Who is Susan McGeown?
Susan McGeown is a wife, mother, daughter, sister, friend, aunt, uncle
(don't ask), teacher, author ... but, most importantly, a "woman after God's own heart." She's been a teacher, a Children's minister, a deacon, a vacation Bible school coordinator, a preschool director, and a Bible study leader. Living in Bridgewater, New Jersey, with her husband of over fifteen years and their three children, writing stories is just about the best way she can imagine spending her free time. Each of Sue's stories champions those emotions nearest and dearest to her: faith, joy, hope and love.
Philippians 1:20-21: “For I fully expect and hope that I will never be ashamed, but that I will continue to be bold for Christ, as I have been in the past. And I trust that my life will bring honor to Christ, whether I live or die. For to me, living means living for Christ, and dying is even better."
Why I write what I write:I love a good read, but I am tremendously picky. I crave stories that I can get completely lost in. Nothing is better than a book that takes me away to a different place and time or that teaches me something I did not know or changes my outlook on life.
In the search for the perfect escape I prefer to be inspired instead of torn down and uplifted rather than depressed. It is my free time I am investing, why can't I be choosy? And, I like romances. I joke about my love of trashy romances, but the reality is that the category of Christian romance or inspirational romance wouldn't fill even one shelf in my home library. Why is that I wonder? Are godly women less passionate, less loving, or less emotional than their 'worldly' counterparts? Hardly!
Godly women come in all shapes, sizes, ethnicities and situations. Godly women have doubts and can despair in low times. Godly women suffer grievous hurts and sorrows that can threaten to break us. Godly women sometimes have only the strength to pray, "Please..." just before they fall into an exhausted, tear filled sleep. What gives godly women their greatest power is they know how to forgive and they know how to pick themselves up and take those first hesitant steps forward. Godly women know how to love. Godly women are passionate. Godly women are not perfect - far from it, but, blessedly, we are forgiven. They are tough, resilient, humorous, outspoken, and proud to be called Women After God's Own Heart. I know because I'm one of them. I am a woman after God's own heart.
I write stories about women in all shapes, sizes, ethnicities and situations. Women like you and me.
